Quilty Scandinavien

Zur Blogtour Heartland  rief Pat Bravo Mitte September Instagram auf. Mein Interesse war sofort geweckt und drei Tage später bekam ich die Einladung. Nun bin ich eine von zwanzig Bloggerinnen und darf Euch hier und heute meinen fertigen Quilt zeigen.

Pat habe ich im letzten Mai persönlich getroffen und ihre Kollektion “Heartland” bei meinem Messebesuch beim Quilt Market in Salt Lake City schon bewundern können. Besonders in Erinnerung geblieben ist mir ihr grauer Trekanter Quilt an ihrem Stand mit den Flying Geese und dem ganz besonderem Quilting von Kathleen Riggins.

Pats Wunsch war es, einen Quilt zu nähen, der an Skandinavien erinnert. Zur Inspiration hat sie allen teilnehmenden Bloggerinnen auf Pinterest eine Pinnwand mit Ideen eingerichtet. Der kühle skandinavische Einrichtungsstil mit viel Weiß gefällt mir selber sehr, er ist klar und übersichtlich mit wenig Schnörkel.

Mid-September Pat Bravo announced her Instagram Blogtour Heartland. It caught my interest right away and three days later I receieved the invitation. Now I am one of 20 bloggers and can now show you today my new finished quilt.

I met Pat in person last May and was able to admire her „Hearland“ collection during my visit to Quilt Market in Salt Lake City. What especially sticks in my mind is her gray Trekanter quilt at her stand with the flying geese and the special quilting by Kathleen Riggins.

It was Pat’s wish to sew a quilt with the theme of Scandinavia. To inspire all of the participating bloggers, Pat posted a bulletin board with her ideas on Pinterest . The cool Scandinavian style full of white is something I personally like a lot, it is clear and simple.

Was erinnert mich an Skandinavien?

Norwegen mit seinen Fjorden und dem Nordlicht, Schweden: rote Holzhäusern mit weißen Fensterrahmen und Elche! Ich denke an Lappland, was sich durch den Norden von Schweden und Norwegen bis in den Westen von Finnland zieht. Durch Lappland hat Skandinavien auch eine folkloristische Seite. Da denke ich an Weite, an viele Seen. Bullerbü und Pipi Langstrumpf von Astrid Lindgren, die Bücher und Verfilmungen kennen wir doch alle aus unserer Kindheit.

What comes to mind when I think of Scandinavia?

Norway and its fjords and the Northern Lights, Sweden with its red houses, white window frames and the moose! I think of Lappland in the North extending from Sweden through Norway all the way to Finland. Lappland also lends Scandinavia a folkloristic flair. Thoughts wide-open spaces, the many lakes. Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking, all of the books and movies we all know so well from our childhood.

Viel Zeit hatte ich nicht für das Layout des Quiltes für diese Blogtour. Die Versendung der Stoffe über den großen Teich dauerte doch etwas länger. Aber schon mit dem Aufruf von Pat Bravo begannen sich Bilder im Kopf zu formen und so konnte ich diese kurze Zeit effektiv nutzen.

I didn’t really have a whole lot of time for the layout of the quilt for this blogtour. It took a long time for the fabric to be sent across the ocean. But as soon as I saw Pat Bravo’s invitation to the blogtour, ideas began to form in my head. And the little time I had I was able to use very efficiently.

Hier ist das Ergebnis, mein Heartland Quilt

Die Kollektion Heartland gibt es in zwei Farbkombinationen, dabei ist mein Favorit Lugna Meadow. Hier sind Senf, Grau und Petrol miteinander kombiniert worden. Für meinen Quilt habe ich ein Offwithe, nämlich White Linen (PE-408), aus der Kollektion “Pure Elements” von Art Gallery fabrics mit dazu genommen. Beim Zuschneiden war mir dann noch nach etwas Grau (PE-410 Ash  und PE 30 Moonstone), das kam dann noch ganz spontan dazu.

Here’s the result, my Heartland Quilt

The Heartland Collection comes in two color combinations, my favorite is Lugna Meadow. Here mustard, gray and teal are nicely combined with one another. For my quilt I added an off-white, White Linen (PE-408), from the collection “Pure Elements” from the Art Gallery fabrics. While cutting the fabric I felt like using a bit of gray (PE-410 Ash and PE 30 Moonstone), that was a spontaneous idea of mine.

Meinen Heartland-Quilt wollte ich unbedingt gern vor dem Schloß Bensberg in unserer Stadt in Szene setzen. Dabei konnten wir nur ein paar herbstliche Sonnenstrahlen erhaschen.

I definitely wanted to place my Heartland Quilt in front of the Bensberg Castle here to give you an idea of the setting in our city. We were lucky to catch a couple of autumn rays of sun while doing so.

Mein fertiger Quilt hat eine Größe von 140 x 150 cm.

Gestern hat die Blogtour bei Haley und Kim Halt gemacht. Heute sind Sarah und ich an der Reihe. Morgen lohnt sich ein Besuch bei Shannon und Ali.

Yesterday the blogtour made a stop at Haley and Kim’s. Today it is Sarah and my turn. Tomorrow it’s definitely worth taking a look at what Shannon and Ali have to offer.
